Opened in 1867, the Theatre Royal is the city’s oldest theatre and the longest running in Scotland. Owned by Scottish Opera since 1974, it is located on Hope Street in the heart of the city. The venue has presented a variety of productions over the years and was even the original headquarters and primary broadcast studio for STV.
Today, the Theatre Royal regularly showcases a wide variety of productions, from plays and musicals to stand-up comedy and regularly welcomes productions from two of Scotland’s most prestigious national performing companies, Scottish Ballet and Scottish Opera.
